Paolo Loffredo, sixth generation of a large family of publishers and booksellers engaged in the production and distribution of books since the late nineteenth century, creates in 2012 the new editorial company Paolo Loffredo Editore. The historical site was until the '80s in the heart of the historic centre of Naples in Via San Biagio dei Librai, lower Decumano and also known as the SpaccaNapoli.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, Giuseppe Loffredo decided to add book selling to the book production, which definitively imposed itself after World War II with the publication of manuals for the University and for the School that succeeded in establishing themselves soon throughout Italy.

Giovanni Maffei

Patricia Bianchi is an ordinary professor of Italian language history ate University of Naples Federico II. She published many works about Neapolitan language history between XIX and XX century, working on lost or not-known texts, ranging from Basilio Puoti to the lexicographer Gaetano Valeriani, from De Sanctis to Ovidio. She also studied theatrical text from ‘900, from Giuseppe Patroni Gritti to Annibale Ruccello and to the Nuova Drammaturgia. She published two volumes by the young Eduardo De Filippo, studied the comic language both in Neapolitan tradition, from Petito e Scarpetta to Peppino de Filippo, and in Totò and Massimo Troisi’s movies. She also studied authors such as Vittorio Imbriani, Giovanni Verga, Francesco Mastriani, Salvatore Di Giacomo, Roberto Bracco, Ferdinando Russo. She recently published unknown correspondence between Di Giacomo and the tuscanian painter Balestrieri (Salvatore Di Giacomo. Lettere a Lionello Balestrieri, Salerno Editrice, 2018). In many of her works she focused on Matilde Serao. She published commented editions of Serao’s Dal vero (Dante e Descartes, 2000), Il ventre di Napoli (Avagliano, 2002), L’infedele (Bel-Ami Edizioni 2009).
