Paolo Loffredo, sixth generation of a large family of publishers and booksellers engaged in the production and distribution of books since the late nineteenth century, creates in 2012 the new editorial company Paolo Loffredo Editore. Un’antica discordia. Platone e la poesia: Ione, Simposio, Repubblica e Sofista

"There is an ancient discord between philosophy and poetry": this is how Socrates expresses himself in the 10th book of the Republic and we can agree that this certainly ancient controversy is, at least for Plato. Throughout the entire span of his life as a philosopher and philosophical writer, Plato posed the problem of confrontation with poetry and poets. Ione, Symposio, Repubblica, Sofista constitute four fundamental moments in which this comparison has been articulated and is based on their analysis, both content and formal, that this book is dedicated to. More than a discord, the impression is that there is a repeated dissatisfaction with the results achieved in the investigation of poetry, once again elusive. The diaphragm is then, at bottom, a "distance", as well as ancient, healthy, because that is where the need for a new research arises.
